Our resort’s splendid colonial house opened in 1921 as the British Consulate of Chiang Mai. Welcoming a constant stream of visitors, the parties for the British King or Queen’s birthdays were social highlights of the year. The Service 1921 reimagines this colonial era in an eccentric and fictitious reinvention of the British government’s secret intelligence service.
Discover unique culinary journeys that are filled with mystery and intrigue from the moment of arrival, with a spy peep hole in the entrance door. Watch our mixologist concoct Asian inspired cocktails from high bar stools, or cosy into uniquely designed vintage salons for pre-dinner tipples and Asian light bites. Enjoy contemporary Thai, Chinese Szechuan and Vietnamese dishes created by expert chefs from each cuisine, either soaking up a sociable scene in the communal dining rooms, or reserving the private dining room which is accessed through a secret book shelf door in the library wall.
The wine cellar houses an impressive selection of New and Old World wines, and also offers an exclusive connoisseur haven for wine tasting journeys and private dinner parties. Savour a single malt in the private whiskey tasting room, and Cuban cigars presented from the resident cigar aficionado. While the wrap around veranda of The Service 1921 offers a delightful setting for Anantara’s famous weekday Afternoon Tea ritual.
